Yes, the Elroq is slightly longer (4,488mm) than the Škoda Karoq (4,390mm). Due to its dedicated MEB electric platform, the Elroq offers a much longer wheelbase (2,765mm vs 2,638mm), providing superior interior legroom despite having a similar exterior footprint.
Let's face it, when it comes to choosing an electric car, it often feels like a series of compromises between range, size, and price.
Many EVs are either too big for the supermarket car park or too small for a family holiday. The Elroq, though, aims to sit right in that "Goldilocks" zone, offering you the tech of its bigger siblings in a package that actually fits into a standard UK driveway.
The Elroq is a bit of a packaging marvel we found really, because it shares the same 2,765mm wheelbase as the much larger Enyaq, yet the body is a more compact 4,488mm long.
This means you get almost the same amount of legroom inside while having a car that is 165mm shorter, making it much easier to thread through tight gaps.
It is a remarkably agile machine, really, that feels right at home in the middle of a busy town such as Yeovil, for certain. For instance, its 9.3-metre turning circle is tighter than many small hatchbacks, allowing you to whip round a U - turn on Mead Avenue without a 3 - point struggle to do so.
The first thing you’ll notice about the Elroq is that it looks modern without being overly futuristic. It debuts Škoda’s "Modern Solid" design language, which gives it a rugged, confident look that feels unfazed by a rain-lashed B-road.
That level of fit and finish isn't just for show, either; it translates to a very aerodynamic shape with a drag coefficient of just 0.26. This efficiency is then crucial for you because it helps you get more miles out of every single charge.
Instead of a traditional grille, the Elroq also features what the designers call a "Tech-Deck Face." This flat, black panel, for instance, hides all the sensors for the safety systems while giving the car a sleek, wide appearance in the process.
It’s a clever bit of design, really, because it makes the car look wider than its 1,884mm width would suggest. You’ll also notice this most when you’re approaching it in a car park, where it has genuine road presence.
The Elroq also comes with a range of striking alloy wheels, starting from 19-inch Proteus silver alloys on the SE trim. These larger wheels don't just look the part either; they provide you with a 1,587mm front track that helps the car feel planted and stable through corners.
That said, you can even opt for 21-inch wheels on higher trims if you want that extra bit of "Tonka-toy" toughness. Despite the larger wheels, the ride still remains supple thanks to the well-tuned suspension as well.
The split headlights create a strong, dynamic front-end which commands attention. Matrix LED headlights with integrated fog light function offer an innovative approach to safety, using 36 individual light segments to shield other road users from the high beam.
The innovative lights also offer five adaptive modes, changing their output and positioning to best suit each situation: City, Country, Highway, All-weather and Tourist (for driving in left-hand drive countries).
With its strong lines and edges, the new Elroq looks powerful even before it starts moving. This is also supported by the dynamically shaped rear lights that penetrated deep into the wings.
The higher-level LED rear lights are also fitted with animated turn indicators, adding another attention-grabbing feature to the rear. These top rear lights also feature the animation function, which is activated when the doors are opened or closed.
Aerodynamics at the forefront. To maximise the electric driving range possible, the new Elroq has been designed with aerodynamics in mind. Air intakes, gently sloping roofline, and optimised wheel designs ensure air resistance is minimised.
The new Elroq shows a bold stance from every angle. Lower bumpers in unique dark chrome create a strong presence on the road, whilst dynamic sculptings create a powerful look.
Stepping inside the Elroq, though, really does feel like a step up in quality that you would first expect. Our team was particularly impressed by the use of Recytitan and Technofil materials, for instance, which are made from recycled plastic bottles and fishing nets.
Overall, this is a clever choice because these materials still feel high-end and durable, rather than cheap or flimsy, while also being good for the planet.
All, while the cabin is clearly designed to be a relaxing space for your daily commute as well.
The cabin is not only sustainable but also focuses on animal welfare; the Elroq interior is vegan and leather-free, utilising high-quality synthetic alternatives that are softer and more durable than traditional hides.
Every Elroq comes as standard with a massive 13-inch infotainment screen. Running the latest MEB Software version 5.2, the system is fast, responsive, and includes physical buttons for the most important functions.
Better still, the updated 'Laura' voice assistant now features ChatGPT integration, allowing you to control the car or ask complex questions using natural, conversational language.
Crucially, you also get a 5-inch digital cockpit behind the steering wheel for your speed and range data. This setup, though, makes sure you have all the info you need without being overwhelmed by digital clutter for sure.
Because of that long 2,765mm wheelbase, the legroom in the back is exceptional, we must note.
For your passengers, for example, you get 990mm of headroom in the rear, which is more than enough for tall adults to sit comfortably.
As a result, it just feels properly spacious back there, even with a tall driver in the front, and better still, the flat floor means the person in the middle seat doesn't have to straddle a bulky transmission tunnel.
Practicality, though, is where Škoda usually wins, and the Elroq is no exception here. For your storage, you get a generous 470-litre boot for your weekly shop, which expands to a massive 1,580 litres with the seats folded flat.
You’ll also be glad to hear there is a 48-litre storage area under the boot floor. So much so that we found this perfect for hiding away the charging cables, keeping the main boot area tidy and clean.
In the event of an emergency on the road, the new Elroq will automatically send an SOS signal for help to give you extra peace of mind.
This is triggered as soon as the airbag or belt tensioners report a major accident. Alternatively, you can press the manual SOS button to call the emergency services directly to report an accident or raise the alarm about another traffic incident you’ve witnessed.
The new Elroq showcases electric innovation at every turn. Dashboard included. Forget old-fashioned dials, here you’ll find a full-colour Digital Cockpit featuring a range of display layouts that can be toggled via the steering wheel.
These include Basic, Navigation, Assist Systems, and Goodbye View.
Cleverly designed to avoid distraction, the augmented reality head-up display shows key driving data in a way that’s easy to absorb at a glance.
Virtual driving information, such as speed, navigation, and adaptive cruise control, is shown directly on the road in front of the vehicle, allowing you to stay informed while staying in full control.
Never let a soggy day dampen your spirits again with this handy driver’s door compartment.
Designed to fit the original Škoda umbrella, it also cleverly drains water away from the car. Plus, the umbrella incorporates sustainable materials into its design.
Plenty of spaces to put all those little knick-knacks, water bottles, magazines and your phone.
Keep the sun out of your and your children's eyes with manual sunblinds for the rear windows.
This set of nets reliably prevents your items from moving around, so they're just as you left them, even after a brisk trip down a winding road.
Keep your charging cable neatly stored out of the way, allowing you to use all of your boot space.
The Elroq can be equipped with a foldable tow bar with electric release via a switch
For your safety and technology features, some of its standout ones consist of:
You may notice the use of rear drum brakes, a deliberate engineering choice for the MEB platform. Because the Elroq uses powerful regenerative braking to slow the car and recoup energy, the rear brakes are used far less often than in a petrol car.
Drum brakes are actually superior here because they are enclosed, preventing corrosion and sticking during long periods of EV driving - meaning lower maintenance costs for you.
An extra set of eyes on the road that monitors the blind spots, allowing you to manoeuvre safely. An acoustic warning will also sound if the vehicle's door is opened, which could collide with a vehicle, cyclist, pedestrian or electric scooter.
When the vehicle is turning, sensors in the front of the vehicle detect oncoming vehicles and brake if needed to prevent a head-on collision.
This function removes the stress of bay and parallel parking by identifying if the parking spot is big enough before automatically steering into the space.
Helping you stay in the intended lane of travel, Lane Assist Plus uses a camera to detect road markings and supports steering if you veer too close to the edge.
Control your speed automatically with predictive adaptive cruise control, which uses the radar in the front grille to maintain a constant distance from the vehicle in front at speeds of 15mph or more.
It also uses traffic sign recognition and GPS technology to adjust the cruise speed when necessary, typically before a turn or roundabout, or when entering an area with a lower speed limit.
For its performance, the Elroq offers 3 main battery sizes to suit different budgets and driving needs. The entry-level Elroq 50, for instance, uses a 55kWh battery (52kWh net), providing you with a healthy 170hp and a range of over 230 miles.
If you need more legs for longer trips, the Elroq 85 is the star of the show. As this then features an 82kWh battery (77kWh net) that delivers up to 355 miles of range on a single charge simultaneously.
While the official WLTP figure is 355 miles, it is worth noting that external temperatures impact electric vehicle performance. In colder winter months, you can realistically expect a range closer to 260–280 miles, particularly if you are using the cabin heating extensively.
On the road, the Elroq also feels incredibly composed. As the Elroq 85 can sprint from 0-62mph in just 6.6 seconds, which is plenty of zip for overtaking safely on the A303 or merging onto the M5 for certain.
Mind you, it isn't just about straight-line speed; it is the way it handles the bumps. With a ground clearance of 186mm, it really can deal with potholes and speed humps with ease, making it a very comfortable family cruiser.
While some road testers debate the balance between the car's 1,949kg kerb weight and its agility, we found that this weight actually works in the Elroq’s favour on the open road.
For instance, while you might feel that mass if you’re pushing hard on a tight, twisty B-road, for the everyday driver, it does provide you with a 'planted' and premium feel that lighter EVs often lack. This weight, combined with the low centre of gravity from the floor-mounted battery, ensures the Elroq feels incredibly stable in crosswinds on the M5 and remarkably composed when soaking up the inevitable Somerset potholes.
The total driving distance for your Elroq depends on the battery size you choose to suit your lifestyle. For instance, the entry-level Elroq 50 features a 55kWh battery (52kWh net) that offers a healthy range of up to 230 miles on the WLTP cycle.
This is perfect for those daily commutes and running errands around town.
If you find yourself frequently heading out on longer trips up the M5, the long-range Elroq 85 is the star of the show, though. As this is equipped with a larger 82kWh battery (77kWh net) that delivers an impressive maximum range of up to 355 miles on a single charge.
This then makes sure that you can travel with absolute peace of mind, knowing you have the legs for those bigger adventures.
The Elroq uses the industry-standard CCS2 connector, making it compatible with the vast majority of rapid charging stations across the UK.
If you use a 175kW rapid charger found at many motorway services, the Elroq 85 can charge from 10% to 80% in just 28 minutes.
To ensure you always hit these peak speeds, the Elroq features battery preconditioning. When you program a rapid charger into the sat-nav, the car automatically brings the battery to the optimal temperature before you arrive, ensuring the fastest possible energy intake.
This means by the time you've finished a coffee and a quick break, your car is ready to hit the road again.
For your daily needs, most owners also find it easiest to charge overnight using a standard 7.4kW home wallbox. A full charge from empty at home, for instance, will take roughly 11 to 12 hours, meaning you wake up every morning to a "full tank".
It just makes the transition to electric driving feel completely seamless and hassle-free.
One of the biggest hurdles for new EV drivers is the "how" of public charging. The 2026 Elroq removes the guesswork with Plug & Charge technology. Using the Škoda Powerpass, you can simply pull up to a compatible station, plug in, and the car handles the authorisation and payment automatically—no apps or cards required.
If you are out and about in Somerset, we recommend downloading Zap-Map or Octopus Electroverse. These apps show real-time availability for the best local networks, such as InstaVolt (look out for their rapid chargers at Yeovil Retail Park) and GRIDSERVE.
Home Charging TipMost of our customers find that charging at home is the easiest way to live with an EV. If you have a driveway, we can advise on the latest 7.4kW smart wallboxes that allow you to schedule charging for when electricity is at its cheapest overnight.
For the best home charger for Škoda Elroq, our team recommends the Ohme Home Pro, which integrates perfectly with cheap overnight EV tariffs.
For the car's technical specs and dimensions, here you have:
Yes, the Elroq is slightly larger in footprint than the traditional Škoda Karoq, measuring 4,488mm in length and 1,884mm in width. However, because it is built on the MEB platform, Škoda has managed to offer you significantly more interior space., it manages to offer you significantly more interior space than its petrol or diesel stablemates.
In fact, it does so as it occupies the space of a compact SUV while still feeling like a much larger vehicle once you step inside.
Crucially, though, the Elroq features a much longer 2,765mm wheelbase compared to the Karoq. This translates directly into exceptional rear legroom, giving your passengers plenty of space to stretch out.
It is a clever bit of engineering, really, that makes the Elroq feel like a "Tardis," offering massive cabin room within a body that is still easy to park in a tight multi-storey car park.
While the Elroq is primarily rear-wheel drive to maximise efficiency and handling, there is indeed a clever storage compartment under the bonnet.
This dedicated "frunk" for instance, provides 21 litres of space, which is really nice to see for those who like to stay organised. It is the perfect spot for keeping your charging cables separate from your clean luggage in the main boot.
By using this 21-litre space for cables or smaller items, you can also leave the full 470-litre main boot free for your shopping or suitcases.
Better still, the bonnet is supported by new gas struts, making it incredibly easy to open and access your gear whenever you need it. It is one of those "Simply Clever" Škoda touches that just make life a little bit easier.
Škoda provides you here with a comprehensive 8-year or 100,000-mile warranty on the high-voltage battery, whichever comes first. This level of cover, though, is designed to give you total confidence in your switch to electric driving.
Crucially, we should note here that this guarantee makes sure that your battery will maintain at least 70% of its original capacity during the entire warranty period.
In addition to the battery protection, every new Elroq also comes with the standard Škoda three-year vehicle warranty.
This consists of a two-year unlimited mileage warranty followed by a third year of cover up to 60,000 miles. At our official and authorised Škoda Yeovil dealership, our team is also always on hand to ensure your vehicle is maintained to the highest standards throughout its life.
For pricing, that is accurate at the time of writing, here you have:
Please note: As a zero-emission vehicle, the Škoda Elroq is currently exempt from standard Vehicle Excise Duty.
For the 2026/27 tax year, the Elroq attracts a Benefit in Kind (BiK) rate of just 4%. This results in significant savings for company car drivers, with monthly costs as low as £22.60 (for a 20% taxpayer based on an SE L 60 model), making it a class-leading business choice.
In terms of how this compares to other cars in the market, here you have:
The Škoda Elroq is a fantastic addition to the electric car market and a real credit to the brand.
It manages to feel like a premium SUV while remaining easy to drive and park in our busy Somerset towns. So, whether you are doing the school run in Yeovil or heading out to the coast for the weekend, it feels like a reliable and comfortable companion.
In our opinion, it is one of the most complete all-rounders you can buy today. It’s a cracking bit of kit and that, and that is why we give it a 4.6 / 5.
